Fighting the Disease of Addiction One Person at a Time
Together We Can is extremely excited to begin working with Linda Devlin and Patti Pike of Addiction-Fighters.com. Raising awareness of the disease of addiction is only the beginning. Having the resources of a website such as Addiction-Fighters.com to be able help point people in the direction best suited for that individual is highly beneficial.
Addiction can be very complex and affect individuals in many different ways. Addiction-Fighters.com provides information, education and resources designed specifically for:
• Individuals seeking treatment
• Family members and friends
• Healthcare professionals
A number of interactive elements on the site are designed to help users who may initially be apprehensive about speaking with someone regarding their problem. Linda Devlin & Patti Pike, founders of Addiction-Fighters.com, explain that for many people, trying to find help can be very daunting.
Addiction-fighters.com serves as a virtual bridge to the help they need. By visiting this site, individuals can enter the informational realm of recovery before physically entering the service best suited for them. Our hope is that this new site will help encourage individuals to reach out for help and take the first steps towards recovery.
Millions of people affected by the disease of addiction find their way to services through routes such as government funded and community service agencies which can be difficult to navigate. Addiction-Fighters.com assists in the navigation toward the treatment best suited for the individual. These highly skilled professionals are dedicated to providing the best care possible in the right setting for that individual in order to optimize treatment and offer the best opportunities for sustained recovery.
Patricia receives many calls from the parents and loved ones of addicts all over the country asking the question, “What can I do to help fight the addiction?” Interventions have proven that “WE DO NOT NEED TO KICK OUR LOVED ONES TO THE CURB” and that “WAITING FOR THEM TO HIT ROCK BOTTOM” are words from the past. Research has proven that, interventions work 85% of the time. The 15% who do not seek treatment at the intervention meeting are more likely to accept treatment within two weeks as long as the family members are willing to follow through on the limitations set out at the start of the intervention.
If you have a loved one suffering from the disease of addiction and you wish to conduct a professional intervention, Patricia holds a 92% success rate and believes strongly in advocating for the addict as well as for the family. You do not have to do this alone.
Addiction-Fighters.com is available for free consultation. The Case Manager will help each individual find the best suited treatment options. We provide interventionists, case management, family systemic approaches and aftercare to those who need some help with their loved one.
Our Story: Addiction-fighters.com was founded by Linda Lane Devlin and Patricia Pike. Both addiction specialists started working in Canada’s poorest postal code 15 years ago. They were called Addiction Fighters by the clients they served and the name has stayed with them ever since. They learned through advocating for their clients that it can be extremely difficult to choose the service best suited for that person’s individual needs.
