ELEVATE – A Letter from the Executive Director

"Together, we can ELEVATE the lives of men and families in our community."

December 22, 2016

Together We Can has been on the front lines of addiction recovery and education in Metro Vancouver for over two decades. In that time, we have seen many triumphs, and far too many tragedies with men and families from across our social landscape.

Since 1993, TWC has worked tirelessly to stay one step ahead of the growing demand for comprehensive residential addiction therapy programs. Being steadfast and resourceful allowed us to maintain our unprecedented level of care while we grew from having 12 residents, to where we are now with 240 men working towards a life in sobriety.

With the current fentanyl crisis looming over our communities, we have seen an even greater need for residential treatment beds. Sadly, more and more families are being affected by this indiscriminate epidemic. Most recent overdose statistics are staggering with 914 deaths across British Columbia in 2016.

Together We Can consistently operates at full capacity at both our 42-bed primary treatment centre, and at each of our 14 transitional or residential treatment homes.   This growing crisis has created a drastic need for expansion. Our current addiction treatment resources, facilities and services will not be able to sustain the growing needs of Canadian families in the coming years. Our clinicians, educators and alumni will continue to work hard to meet the harsh demands created by this overdose crisis. With your help, we can begin to turn the tides—towards recovery.

Together We Can hosted ELEVATE, a Recovery Life Gala on Sunday March 5th, 2017 at The Imperial Theatre in Vancouver. The goal was to not only upgrade the current facilities at TWC Centre Kingsway, but to work towards building an additional full-service addiction recovery centre in the Metro Vancouver. A new treatment centre will allow us a better opportunity to stay ahead of the increased need for addiction health services in our community.

Together We Can has the existing organizational structure, experience and knowledge to operate and manage reputable addiction recovery centres. We deliver the perfect platform and partnership, for the BC government to satisfy their promise of creating 500 new treatment beds by 2017. Today, the need is greater than ever, so we need to act fast.

Together, we can ELEVATE the lives of men and families in our community.
